July is 30 Mile Meal Month: Join Jackie O’s for Athens Patio Tour!
July is 30 Mile Meal Month, the brainchild of Athens County Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Appalachian Center for Economic Networks (ACEnet). It brings together more than 120 businesses (including your friends at Jackie O’s!) that grow, sell, cook and serve local foods within a 30-mile radius of Athens. A month-long celebration of what makes our county so great.
Each week has a different theme:
July 1 – 10: Picnic Week
Next week, Kristen will be adding a special dish to the Taproom food cart menu in celebration of Picnic Week. Grab a blanket, pick up the dish and a growler fill at the Taproom then hit your favorite spot to picnic in Athens!
July 11 – 17: Restaurant/Food Cart Week
The Athens Patio Tour on July 14 takes you around 5 locations: Village Bakery, Jackie O’s Taproom, The West End Cider House, Purple Chopstix, and Jackie O’s Public House! Tickets ($100, email firstname.lastname@example.org) include the cost of beer, mead, &/or cider flights at each location, a five-course meal (3 appetizers, 1 entree, 1 dessert), & transportation to each of the five locations.
July 18 – 27: Farmer’s Market Week
A week to highlight Athens Farmer’s Market, where Jackie O’s Barrel Ridge Farm hosts a popular stand every week!
July 28 – 31: Craft Spirits Week
Hope you’re able to join us for the fun. Don’t forget, Ohio Brew Week is July 10 – 18. We will feature guest ales uptown and both the Taproom and Public House will have extended hours to accommodate guests. More details to come.
It’s been a busy few weeks, as per usual. We hosted our first-ever yoga & beer retreat with Balance and Brews, a Cleveland-based company. Deep breaths, deep stretches, and Jackie O’s beer to take the edge off post-workout. Can’t wait to pair up with Balance and Brews again in the future. At an event at The Party Source in Kentucky on June 26, we poured Chomolungma, Paw Paw Wheat, Bourbon Barrel Brick Kiln, Mystic Mama, and Matriarch. On the same night, we also hosted an event at Fisher Foods in Canton (serving Apt. 223, Hive-Five and more) and another at Grapes and Ale, held at Progressive Field.
It certainly was big week for equal rights in the U.S. and we’re keeping the celebration going at Red White + Equal Rights on July 3. We’re also proud to support Columbus Crew at every home game – join us this Saturday, July 4, as they take on New York at home. Next week, Jackie O’s Mystic Mama and Razz Wheat will be featured at the Cleveland Flea.
At the Brewpub, Clark and Liam are up to no good as usual, brewing Hive-Five, Sour Gratzer, and Rye of Jupiter. White Apparition, our imperial Amber “stout” conditioned on toasted cacao nibs, vanilla beans, & French roasted coffee beans, is on draft. Green Flowers, our Pale Ale collaboration with Yellow Springs Brewery, is available as well! Don’t forget you can always find our full list of drafts on the website, where our food menu is also available.
