Razz Wheat Cans & So Much More: Our Week in Review (1/18-1/24)

It is with great pleasure we introduce to you our newest installment on the blog: a weekly review where we play catch-up with the public on all things Jackie O’s!

This week was a big one for the team and our fans because we’re in the process of brewing Razz Wheat for distribution! The cans will be printed next week and we’re aiming for a Valentine’s Day release. Once again, we’ve called on the talented Bryn Perrott to design artwork for the label. Check it out:

Dust is already flying at our new woodworking shop on Kern Street. This new space marks the end of Club Ricky, the smaller area where we’ve been carving tap handles and other fun woodworking projects for about two years at 25 Campbell. In our new Kern shop, we’ll be able to produce more tap handles and so much more.

We submitted the plans to rebuild the kitchen roof of the Public House on Union Street this week, too. Fingers crossed that the plans get approved swiftly—while we love serving our menu from the Brewpub, we’re itching to get back in the Public House. Luckily for you all, we opened up that space for private events this week and invite you to email info@jackieos.com if you’re interested in hosting your next event uptown! Our office between the Public House and Brewpub is also currently under construction, marking the end of a slightly cramped two-month period at the taproom for our HR team.

We just blended Bourbon Barrel Dark Apparition, marking our first barrel-aged brew to be bottled in 2015. Expect to see it in distribution the first week of February. Our latest bottled creation, Vanilla & Coffee Bean Dark Apparition has been a great success since hitting shelves across Ohio this week, too. Pick up your bottle at the Taproom today ($5.99/bottle, no limit).

If you haven’t picked up on it already: we’re huge, huge, HUGE fans of the barrel-aging process. Our arsenal of wood barrels (in their new, expanded home) is what makes Jackie O’s specialty bottles so special! We received over 100 wood barrels this week and we’re so excited to share new bounties of beer with you. Stay tuned on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to be a part of the process.

This week, Clark Benson brewed a delicious Japanese-style rice lager (heavy on the Sorachi Ace hops, thank god!) at the Brewpub. We rely on Clark to keep things interesting at our uptown brewing facility and he never lets us down. You can try dozens of brews—many limited to Athens and the Brewpub exclusively—uptown, seven days a week. Our nearly-full menu is available 11:30am-9:30pm at the Brewpub every day.

Join us at the Public House tomorrow (Saturday, Jan. 24) at 8pm for Mojoflow! Until next week—be safe, stay warm and drink up! Jackie O’s staff wishes you well. Cheers!
