Jackie O’s Collaborations: Yellow Springs, Crooked Stave, Fat Heads
In the past two weeks, we’ve hosted three collaborations with Yellow Springs Brewery, Fat Heads, and Crooked Stave. We are so excited to share the details of each of these brews with you.
Our collaboration with Yellow Springs Brewery is a pale ale brewed with lots of Amarillo, Simcoe, and Centennial hops. Fermented with an English yeast strain, the brew is 5% ABV and very aromatic with a soft mouth feel. We plan to distribute this beer as a draft-only feature around Ohio. Look for it here in Athens during Ohio Brew Week, July 10-18!
Collaborating with Crooked Stave of Denver, Colorado was a pleasure. Chad, Yetta, and Teerje from the Crooked Stave team joined us the week of Art and Michelle’s wedding to brew a golden ale with 2 row barley, unmalted white wheat, oats, and local spelt. The wort was racked into fresh red wine barrels, each of which we inoculated with a combination of Crooked Stave’s house culture and our Berliner culture. Within 36 hours, the beer was going through primary fermentation in the oak barrels. You will be able to find this beer in bottles, sometime in mid-2016! We even sent our blended cultures back to Denver, so that they can do something similar there.
Our June 12 collaboration with Cleveland’s Fat Heads Brewery produced a session IPA, fermented with mango puree and pink guava puree. This fun brew was hopped with Galaxy, Chinook, and Citra hops and will see statewide distribution. You can also find it here in Athens during Ohio Brew Week, July 10-18!
