Help Support Nepal and Celebrate Chomolungma Day at Jackie O’s!
Join us at the Brewpub on Saturday, May 23 for the second annual Chomolungma Day celebration. Bars around the state are celebrating with us by putting Chomolungma on tap and this time, we hope to raise money for victims of the 7.3 magnitude earthquakes that recently hit Nepal. The earthquakes, the country’s deadliest in history, killed over 8,500 people and left close to 2 million in need of food assistance.
Chomolungma Day is in honor of Brian Oestrike’s, brother to owner Art, 2007 summit of Mount Everest. ‘Chomolungma’ means ‘Mount Everest’ in Tibetan.
Jackie O’s is named after Jackie Oestrike, mother to Art & Brian, who passed away from lung cancer in 2006. Our famous Chomolungma Honey Nut Brown ale is styled as an English brown ale because Jackie always kept cold Newcastle Brown Ales in the fridge. Brian’s Mount Everest climb was in his mother’s honor, raising money for the Chicago-based lung cancer research organization, LUNGevity.
We will be tapping these special Chomolungma treatments for $5/pint at the Brewpub only. No growler fills available:
Cholmond Joy: Chomolungma conditioned on toasted almonds, coconut, and cacao nibs
Cherry Vanilla Chomo: Chomolungma conditioned on dark sweet cherries and vanilla beans
Chai Chomo: Chomolungma conditioned on spices and vanilla beans
For $2 more, each beer comes with a special 16-ounce, can-shaped Chomolungma glass to keep. Extra glasses also available for sale!
We are encouraging bars (and you!) to make a donation from their Chomolungma Day proceeds to the Red Cross. Jackie O’s will donate 10% of our sales from treatment kegs and special glasses to the organization.
Event begins at 11:30am and lasts until beer runs out.
