Way back at the beginning of April we spent an amazing couple of days collabing on two new brews with the incredibly talented Noah Bissell and JC Klecko from the lauded @bissellbrothers out of Portland, Maine and we’re so excited to announce that part one is finally ready for you to enjoy!

“Sunless Summer” is a Biere de Garde style ale, our take on the classic French and Belgian style that presents malty notes of rich caramel and toasty nuttiness. Sunless Summer is available on draft and in crowlers now at both Uptown locations and will be featured at @jackieoscolumbus very soon!

We had an absolute blast hangin’ and collabin’ with Noah and JC and we can’t say enough good things about Bissell Brothers. We hope you’ll enjoy Sunless Summer and stay tuned for the second part of our collab, a big boy stout currently barrel-aging in our woodcellar. Welcome to a new @ohiobrewweek tradition! Join us today, Monday, July 10th, at 5pm at our Uptown Brewpub for our official 2023 OBW Keg Tapping Ceremony featuring, for the first time ever, a beer created and brewed by @ohio.university Brewing Science (@ohiobrewing) students!

This year’s beer, "Honey Sunrise," is an American pale ale brewed with a hefty dose of orange blossom honey and apple puree. Selected by our Head Pub Brewer, Liam McDonald, Honey Sunrise was designed by Dylan Geisen as part of his final project for Dr. Mick Held’s CHEM 4501 class last summer, and early this summer it was brewed at our Brewpub with help from this year's CHEM 4500/4501 class who will submit recipes of their own, one of which will be chosen for next year’s Keg Tapping.

Dr. Held and our owner/president Art Oestrike have been collaborating on brewing education for many years. Recently, the pair developed two new craft brewing certificate programs (one for grad students and one for undergrads) offering pathways for both those interested in the science of brewing and those interested in the entrepreneurial aspects of running a business.

We’re incredibly honored to be a small part in helping to spark the next generation of amazing brewers and entrepreneurs here in Southeast Ohio and so excited to share the hard work of these remarkable students with everyone at Ohio Brew Week! We hope you’ll join us!

Bee-wiz, y’all really know how to make a brewery feel special! We just want to send a huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to any and all of our locations this past weekend to celebrate BWIZZLE 2023 with us. We had a total Barleywine blast with all of you and we can’t wait to do it up even bigger and better in 2024!

We also want to send a special shoutout to everyone who came out to the Taproom on Saturday for our Dolly Parton Tribute Concert to help fundraise for the amazing @hollerhealthjustice! The turnout was absolutely awesome and we can’t thank enough @abaohio for organizing the event, @athens.ohio.roller.derby for helping solicit and collect donations, the brilliant lineup of bands (@readyaimflowers, Electric Funeral, @caitlinkrausmusic, @rabblerouzerband, @willi_o_the_wisp & @mx_ems, and @ratdreams #) for serenading everyone with their tremendous Dolly tributes, and to all of you for coming out to support this vital cause on a truly wonderful BWIZZLE weekend.
