Jackie O's next bottle sale: May 8 and 9!

The news you’ve all been waiting for: our next bottle sale is scheduled for May 8 and 9! We’ll be offering over 40 drafts as well as bottles of Funky South Paw, Dynamo Fuzz (barrel aged peach sour), Cellar Cuvee 3 (blend of 18-month bourbon barrel Imperial Razz and 8-month bourbon barrel-aged Sparbock), as well as another choice yet undecided. Super 8 in Athens is reserving nights at a special block rate (around $90 plus tax) for May 8, so tell them you’re with Jackie O’s when you call. Stay tuned for more details, but this sale will run much like our others have in the past.

Snow may have thrown us off a bit this week (Art says it’s the biggest storm he’s seen in Athens in 18 years!) but Razz Wheat cans are still flying off the shelves. We’re packing about 600 cases a week and appreciate your continuous support. Here in Athens, we’re also training staff in a number of different arenas. Our team is learning and growing within the production facility.

You can expect to see bottles of Bourbon Barrel Oil of Aphrodite around Ohio this week. Keep your eyes peeled.

We’re excited to tell you about Ricky, our yellow beer, brewed the hard way! Ricky was specifically designed for warm weather drinking and festivals. This beer was the first test batch and we wanted to create something that was very light, clean, crisp, and refreshing. Crafted with only 2-row barley, dextrose sugar, and saaz hops.  The price point is low and they go down super smooth.  We are brewing a 20bbl batch next week for the upcoming Independent Fest in Athens at the end of March.

Clark also brewed Limelight DIPA this week, a special beer being created for the Athens Film Festival.  Limelight is a double IPA hopped with Centennial, Simcoe, and Citra. We used no bittering hops, so this should be very juicy with a soft bitterness. We also utilized a hop back where whole leaf Centennial, Simcoe, and Citra hops were steeped as the wort made its way to the heat exchanger.  Lime zest was also used in the hop back and the juice of the limes was added to the kettle to add flavor, aroma, and adjust the PH!  We’re anticipating a very cool beer!

Jackie O’s Bourbon Barrel Dark Apparition 2015 and Rum Barrel Oil of Aphrodite 2014 received love at the Dublin Craft Beer Cup at the beginning of the month. Such an honor – we’re on the list with some of the world’s finest breweries. Cheers! This weekend we also poured at Glass City Beer Fest and Winter Warmer Fest. Participating in all of these events keeps us happily busy and it’s such a blast meeting Jackie O’s fans around the state.

On that note, we’re getting excited for a tap takeover at Brews Cafe in Granville on Thursday, March 12th.  Brewmaster Brad Clark will be there all night to share beers, answer questions, and have a good time. Stay tuned on our social media outlets for more details as the date nears.

You can easily find out what’s on tap at the Brewpub on our Facebook (just click ‘Beer Menu’) or on our website, where Taproom drafts and bottles are also available. The Taproom is rocking 8 new draft lines, so stop in and check us out at 25 Campbell!
